The present study is a contrastive analysis comparing the application of definite and indefinite articles in English and Persian languages. In this regard 10 texts including historical and religious stories in Persian and their translations into English were chosen. Among these texts 113 cases of definite and indefinite articles were compared in two languages. The results of the study showed that 43 cases of definite article \"the\" and 29 cases of indefinite articles \"a, an\" were applied to show definiteness and indefiniteness respectively. Also the results of the study demonstrated that only 3 cases of definite article \"the\" were used for representing indefiniteness in Persian language زبان ها دارای اشکال زبانی متفاوتی هستند که می توانند برای کشف تفاوت ها و شباهت ها بین آنها با هم مقایسه شوند. مطالعه ی حاضر تجزیه و تحلیل مقایسه ای در استفاده از حرف تعریف معلوم و نامعلوم در زبانهای انگلیسی و فارسی را نشان می دهد.در این خصوص 10 متن از داستانهای تاریخی و مذهبی فارسی و ترجمه های آنها به زبان انگلیسی انتخاب شد. در میان این متنها 113 مورد از حروف تعریف معلوم و نامعلوم در دو زبان با هم مقایسه شده است. نتایج مطالعه نشان داد که در 43 مورد از حروف تعریف معلوم "the" "و 29 مورد ازحروف نامعلوم "a، an " به ترتیب برای نشان دادن معلوم ونامعلوم بودن استفاده شده است. همچنین نتایج مطالعه نشان داد که در زبان فارسی تنها در3 مورد از حرف تعریف معلوم " the " برای نشان دادن نامعلوم بودن استفاده می شود. /downloadfilepdf/1336171
